SEC schedule unveiled for Florida Gators 2024-25 season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The 2024-25 men’s basketball conference schedule for the Florida Gators was unveiled on Tuesday by the Southeastern Conference.
The Gators’ SEC opener will be a visit to Kentucky on Jan. 4, with the home opener to follow against Tennessee on Jan. 7 or 8. The Gators will host both SEC newcomers, Texas and Oklahoma, in the league’s first season with 16 teams.
Under the new SEC scheduling format this season, Florida has permanent home-and-home series with Georgia and South Carolina plus one rotating home-and-home — Tennessee in 2024-25. The remaining opponents are split between home and away.
Florida’s nonconference slate includes Virginia at home for the SEC-ACC Challenge, a road contest at Florida State, premier neutral-site matchups vs. Arizona State in Atlanta and North Carolina in Charlotte, and the ESPN Events Invitational over Thanksgiving.

The Gators enter Year 3 under coach Todd Golden after a 24-win season in 2023-24, the team’s most since 2016-17, and their first NCAA Tournament in three years. UF also made a run to the SEC Tournament championship game for the first time since 2014.
“Obviously, we were pretty electric offensively last year. We were a little better than we thought we’d be on that end and it’s going to be hard to replicate that. I do believe we can take a jump defensively, though, and there’s a lot of room for improvement for us that way,” Golden said of his 2024-25 team. “So, I’m OK if we go back a little bit offensively if we can make a massive jump defensively, right? So that’s kind of what we’re trying to tug and push on every day in the office just trying to kind of thread that needle.”
Midweek date assignments, game times and television information will be announced at a later date.
