Scouting Jack Pyburn

During his senior season at the Bolles School, the three-star prospect posted 109 tackles, 32 tackles for loss and 15 sacks in 11 games.

Pyburn can play all over the front seven but is especially good at rushing the passer. During his time at Bolles, the Florida legacy played inside linebacker and edge. Pyburn played standing up for the majority of his junior and senior seasons.

As a pass rusher, Pyburn is quick off the ball, allowing him to get past opposing tackles and into the backfield. Pyburn, a wrestler, plays with extreme strength that will translate well to the SEC. The Jacksonville native destroys running backs in pass protection.

One area for improvement for the three-star is using his hands and other pass-rushing moves outside of a bullrush. There was not much film on Pyburn in coverage either.

When playing inside linebacker, Pyburn diagnoses run plays quickly and fills gaps with ease. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound linebacker excels when playing downhill and is a sure tackler. Pyburn excels when blitzing from the second level.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound EDGE prospect will offer long-term depth for the Gators, with enough upside to play after a year or two of development. His skills standing up will be tested once he reaches the SEC, as tackles have extreme length, quick feet and long arms to neutralize pass rushers. — GO’s Donavon Keiser

Why the Gators won out

“It means so much to say I am going to Florida now. I have so much passion for the school. They will get my grit, toughness, and determination. I am aiming to be a Gator great!
