Quotable

“Really, it’s the relationships I have built with the whole staff. It’s not just one person I talk to; it’s like five, six coaches. It’s just meant more like a family to me than anything and I felt like that was home to me.

“I also like that they tell me the truth about everything, good or bad. It’s not just about football either. It’s more about life, seeing how I’m doing, and it just matters more to me that everything is not about football.”

Scouting Report on Bryce Thornton

The Gators are receiving a well-rounded prospect who does a little bit of everything in the back end of the defense.

He has a reputation for coming up with the big play, especially when it comes to recording an interception. Not only does Thornton cause a turnover, but he is also dangerous once getting north and south and turning into an offensive weapon. He is always a missed tackle or two from adding six to the scoreboard.

I also like Thornton’s willingness to play with physicality. He is a sound tackler who shows good technique when wrapping up the ball carrier, often providing that pop at the point of attack. His size is not top notch, but Thornton definitely gets his nose dirty and shows no problem disengaging off blocks to make a play. He does a good job of breaking down and playing with good pad level as well.

When you consider Thornton’s physicality and ability to come up with interceptions, it’s no surprise the Gators are courting him to play STAR. He is the ideal fit for the position and one of the players who typically fills up the stat sheet on a weekly basis.
