Six Florida Gators named to Senior Bowl Watch List
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators football team saw six of its players named to the 2023 Senior Bowl Watch List on Wednesday.
Three of the players reside on the offensive side of the football. Right guard O’Cyrus Torrence, left tackle Richard Gouraige, and wide receiver Justin Shorter were all named to the Senior Bowl Watch List
Torrence has already picked up a number of preseason accolades. Most recently, the Louisiana transfer was the only Florida player selected to the All-SEC first team by the coaches.
Gouraige is seen as a leader of the Florida offensive line. He has started every game in the last two seasons for the Gators.
Shorter has racked up 818 yards receiving on 66 receptions with six touchdowns in two seasons with UF.
The remaining three are defenders with outside linebacker Brenton Cox Jr., inside linebacker Ventrell Miller and safety Trey Dean.
Cox was one of the few bright spots for the Florida defense in 2021. It was a career year for the Georgia transfer. He totaled 41 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and four deflections.

Miller was sorely missed by the Gators in 2021 due to a torn biceps tendon. Florida’s quarterback of the defense has already made it clear that he’s looking for revenge this season.
Dean quietly had himself a good season in 2021 with 92 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, one interception, and 10 pass deflections.
The Gators have been represented in the last three Senior Bowls and are looking to make it a fourth in a row.
In the 2022 Senior Bowl, running back Dameon Pierce, linebacker Jeremiah Moon and defensive end Zachary Carter represented UF.
The Senior Bowl’s watch list is currently at 484 position players, and players will be analyzed throughout the season.
