Just after midnight on the East Coast, the Florida Gators landed a commitment from four-star Jaden Rashada, one of the top signal callers in the 2023 class. After missing out on Rashada in July to Miami, the California native had a change of heart and now will play in the SEC at Florida.
“Over the past few months, I’ve been weighing my options heavily… I have dreamed of playing SEC since I was a little kid,” Rashada said in his note announcing the move. “After a lot of prayer, conversations with my family and those close to me, I have decided to change my commitment and play for the University of Florida.”
Behind Billy Napier, Ryan O’Hara and various other Florida staff members, the Gators never gave up hope to secure their quarterback of the future. Although it took a few months longer than expected, the Gators finally got their gem.
According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, the 6-foot-3.5, 185-pound Rashada ranks as the No. 7 quarterback and No. 61 player regardless of position.

To make the flip even sweeter for the Gators, UF jumped Miami in the On3 Consensus Team Rankings, good enough for the eight-ranked 2023 class. As with any flip, Gators’ fans had a ball on social media, but this one felt better as the Gators snatched Rashada away from the in-state Miami Hurricanes.
With the addition of Rashada, Florida now holds 23 commitments in the 2023 class, 18 of which are four-star prospects with chances to close on more ahead of Early National Signing Day.
