SOCIAL SLANT: Treyaun Webb stays home with the Florida Gators

The No. 6 running back in the country is staying home. Florida legacy Treyaun Webb, committed to the Florida Gators on Thursday after a strong recruitment by Billy Napier and his staff.

Florida beat out BaylorTennesseeSouth Carolina, and Penn State for the Jacksonville native’s commitment. At one point, Webb was a Georgia Bulldog, then an Oklahoma Sooner.

“I chose Florida because of the education and the opportunities after football,” Webb told On3.com’s Hayes Fawcett. “I have felt a connection with the staff from the beginning and they truly care.”

“I’ve always loved Florida because it’s close to home, the hometown feeling, my cousin played there, everything just seemed right. Now that they are recruiting me, it’s kind of a perfect fit, and everything lines up. There are no excuses now.”

Webb ranks as the No. 165 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that accounts for all four major recruiting sites. He also tabs in as the No. 6 running back and the No. 33 player in the state of Florida.

“Treyaun Webb first emerged on the recruiting scene when he earned a scholarship offer from Miami as a seventh-grader. Since then, he’s developed into one of the most coveted offensive players in the country and was a big part of Trinity Christian Academy’s 2021 and 2020 state championships. “He’s an exceptional athlete,” Trinity Christian Academy coach Verlon Dorminey said. “He’s a great kid, hard-working kid, very coachable. He is a knowledgeable young man of the game already.”

Webb was committed to Oklahoma at one point in the recruiting process. He plans on majoring in math, lists his hobbies as watching movies and his favorite food is salad. His parents are Reginald and Christina Webb.”
