This is Florida's 2025 recruiting class so far
With 4-star defensive lineman Joseph Mbatchou of Grayson (Ga.) backing off his pledge Monday, that makes three de-commitments for the Florida Gators since Sept. 29. Each was a 4-star recruit. Florida is left with only 11 commitments and the No. 33 class ranking. That is 15th out of 16 SEC programs. How many would the Gators like to sign? Probably around 20.
Here’s a look at the Florida Gators’ remaining commitments.
3-star P Hayden Craig, North Bridgton (Me.) Academy
Commitment date: 6/12/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 4 punter/No. 2167 overall
411: Florida needed a punter in the class and the Gators landed one in Craig. He is the No. 11 punter in the 2025 class nationally for Kohl’s Kicking. Two weeks ago, he even booted a 53-yard field goal to win the game. Per Kohl’s, “Craig has some of the best leg talent as a combo athlete in the 2025 class.”
3-star RB Chad Gasper, Fulshear (Texas) Jordan
Commitment date: 5/10/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 52 running back/No. 693 overall
411: Gasper is someone the Gators are thrilled to have in the class. He has been slowed by injury but saw his fist action of the season last week.
3-star TE Micah Jones, Madison Central (Miss.)
Commitment date: 6/21/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 33 tight end/No. 621 overall
411: While we haven’t found any season stats for Jones, we’ve watched some of his highlights and it seems like he’s a solid prospect. Jones will bring a big frame (6-foot-4, 250 pounds) to the Florida tight ends room and that’s needed as much as sleek pass catcher.
3-star LB Myles Johnson, Brewton (Ala.) T.R. Miller
Commitment date: 7/10/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 64 linebacker/No. 590 overall
411: Coming back from a knee injury that sidelined him in 2023, Johnson has shown why legendary Alabama coach Nick Saban once took his commitment with the Tide. Johnson has the body and the physical tools to thrive in the SEC.
3-star DL Jeramiah McCloud, Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County
Commitment date: 5/02/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 46 defensive lineman/No. 486 overall
411: McCloud had 32 tackles (14 solos), 10 tackles for loss, 1 sack and 1 interception in five games played for the No. 1-ranked team in Georgia — and that’s against a strong schedule. The best word to describe him on the field: disruptive. McCloud is being pursued by Georgia. Keep an eye on that.
4-star WR/ATH Tae’shaun Gelsey, Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside
Commitment date: 6/29/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 20 tight end/No. 332 overall
411: At one time, we had him likely playing tight end in college. But now, it seems Florida likes him as a receiver hybrid type. The Gators will try to utilize that big frame (6-foot-4). Gelsey has 44 catches for 636 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season before his most recent game.

4-star RB Waltez Clark, Tampa (Fla.) Plant
Commitment date: 9/16/23
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 21 running back/No. 314 overall
411: Clark’s stats this season won’t wow you, but there are a few things to consider. For starters, his team’s offensive line is rebuilding so the holes aren’t always there. Second, he not only gets carries, but is an effective weapon in the passing game. He’s extremely fast (10.77 seconds in the 100 meters) and is a big play waiting to happen.
4-star WR Naeshaun Montgomery, Miami (Fla.) Central
Commitment date: 8/25/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 34 receiver/No. 256 overall
411: Montgomery is steady. A little more than midway through the season, he has 20 catches for 494 yards and 4 touchdowns. He has excellent hands and is a solid route runner — and with his speed, he can take the top off a defense.
4-star Edge Jalen Wiggins, Tallahassee (Fla.) Rickards
Commitment date: 1/15/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 14 defensive lineman/No. 151 overall
411: Wiggins, listed at 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, isn’t just talented, he’s an excellent student with a high football IQ. In one recent game, he recorded 17 total tackles, 2 sacks, 5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery. He’s officially visiting Notre Dame in November.
4-star CB Ben Hanks Jr., Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington
Commitment date: 8/16/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 11 cornerback/No. 83 overall
411: Hanks, a UF legacy recruit, probably isn’t done growing and is one of the most competitive players in the Sunshine State. Cornerback is one of those key positions where you can never have too many talented players. Miami is pushing for a flip.
4-star WR Vernell Brown III, WR, Orlando (Fla.) Jones
Commitment date: 7/21/24
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 7 receiver/No. 34 overall
411: Brown, an elite slot receiver, is Florida’s highest-ranked commitment and there’s much to like about his game. He` has the ability to make an immediate impact in Gainesville. Adding to his value is the fact he’s a Florida Gators legacy. He’ll be a face of the program in the coming years.
