As the NFL Draft concludes, the Florida Gators had six of its prospects selected in the 259-pick draft, with three coming on the first two days. The Gators continued to push its prospects to the NFL Draft, even after a season where the Gators finished 6-7 and lost its bowl game.

Here are three draft fits that Gators Online thinks makes sense just after the Draft concluded.

Awe-inspiring quarterback Anthony Richardson finds new beginning with the Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have quite the resume when it comes to selecting quarterbacks in the first round of the NFL Draft, from Peyton Manning to Andrew Luck. Richardson has the chance to be the next outstanding quarterback on that list, given he can develop and be consistent at the next level.

While the Colts are in flux, the organization is willing to put its eggs in Richardson’s basket.

Not only did the organization offer its vote of confidence, but they also have pieces to make Richardson a successful quarterback. On the roster are All-Pro running back Jonathan Taylor and stud wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., who was coached by former Gators’ receiver coach Keary Colbert.

North Carolina star wide receiver Josh Downs went to the Colts in the third round, an instant target that can immediately click with Richardson. Downs excels in the short and YAC game, which could aid in Richardson’s development at the next level.

The Colts’ offensive line remains a gigantic question mark, which could be a cause for concern with a rookie quarterback.

As for coaching, Shane Steichen helped Jalen Hurts along as he adjusted to the NFL. If anyone can help Richardson make a similar jump in the NFL, it is Steichen.

Florida defensive tackle Gervon Dexter finds a home with the Chicago Bears

If there is one glaring weakness of the Bears, it is their defensive front. It makes sense why the Bears wanted to address the need on day two of the draft, selecting the athletic freak that Dexter is. While Dexter struggled to put up incredible numbers at Florida, the Polk County native’s impact could not be understated. Dexter had to play an absurd amount of snaps, causing his production to decline.

Given Florida’s other options on the front, Dexter was forced into certain roles that weren’t the best for his personal development. In the league, that could change and allow Dexter to make even more of an impact on the game.

Admist the Bears’ retooling of the defensive front, Dexter can slide in and occupy multiple spots if need be.

With a need in the trenches, Dexter could act as a plug-and-play defensive tackle or even an end for the Bears under defensive coordinator Alan Williams.

Gators wideout Justin Shorter heads to the Buffalo Bills

Anytime you can go to a contender in the draft, it is good for development. While the Bills have respectable receivers with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, the Bills need another option to bolster their room.

As for Shorter, the Bills are looking for what Shorter can offer, a big-body receiver that can go up and get the ball. Throughout his time with Florida, Shorter showed his ability to go up and get it, especially in long-developing plays like deep posts or crossers. Shorter also made his presence felt on go routes, and that goes along with what the Bills want to do. Stretching the field with be Shorter’s speciality, which is why the pick makes so much sense for Buffalo.

Shorter mossed multiple cornerbacks across his film at Florida, and proved that he could make a play in one-on-one situations.

With Josh Allen’s cyborg arm, he’ll be able to drop the ball wherever it needs to be for Shorter. Given his 6-foot-4, 240-pound frame, Shorter’s catch radius is ridiculous. Shorter can thrive with a quarterback like Allen, given the Bills utilize him properly.
