Three Florida starters practicing Tuesday after nursing injuries
A trio of projected starters for the Florida Gators returned to practice this week after missing time with injuries, including wide receiver transfer Ricky Pearsall.
Pearsall was out for more than a week with a left foot injury before going through some blocking drills Friday in a non-contact jersey. After missing the Gators’ scrimmage Saturday, Pearsall was in a regular practice jersey on Tuesday and fully participating in drills during the media’s viewing period.
The other starters back at practice cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. and offensive guard Ethan White, both fully participating in regular jerseys. Marshall was also sidelined for over a week with a hamstring injury, while White missed multiple practices last week for an undisclosed injury.
Gators coach Billy Napier indicated Sunday that all three players would be returning soon.
“We feel really good about their progress,” Napier said of Pearsall and Marshall. “We anticipate getting them back this week. I think both are very common injuries and things that just take a little time. We’re just waiting on the performance team and the training room and the strength and conditioning to make a decision when they’re ready to go. They’ve been doing quite a bit of work, but in a controlled setting. But we anticipate getting both those guys back shortly.
“Ethan had a minor setback and had a small procedure. He’s out for a little bit. He’ll be back. … Nothing major there with Ethan.”

Pearsall impressed early in camp
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Pearsall stood out during the first week of training camp before his injury. He appears to be one of Florida’s most explosive players and was working with the starters in the slot.
Returning to practice more than 10 days before the season opener gives Pearsall time to continue learning the offense and solidify his role on offense.
“I’m excited to see what Ricky Pearsall can do,” Gators safety Rashad Torrence II said. “Just the energy he brings and having a new face — most guys come in kind of timid, but he came in with the energy that he belongs here, and we’ve embraced that. So, it’s a great feeling. He’s a nice piece to have.”
