I loved every single part of the visit. … (Gators quarterback DJ Lagway) is most definitely one of the best QBs in the country right now. I watched him at Willis (Texas). Now as a true freshman, he’s making plays against Georgia. That’s crazy. It would be a blessing having a great QB like that. He’s only a freshman. … (Receivers coach Billy Gonzales) — he’s developed some of the best receivers in the league right now and I feel I can really be next.”
Notable: Tounkara flipped to the Gators from Arizona.

What the Gators are getting in Muizz Tounkara
Scouting report … Here are some thoughts from Corey Bender of Gators Online:
-Tounkara boasts the physical makeup coveted by Gonzales. He makes use of it as well, as he does a nice job of high-pointing the ball when available. When Tounkara extends out, it makes it that much more difficult for DBs to make a play on the ball. He fits the mold of an X receiver and will be bigger than most defensive backs in college.
– Sometimes bigger wide receivers can get away with not running the best routes, but that part of Tounkara’s game stands out. He does a good job of sticking his foot in the grass to get separation and doesn’t tip off the defender before doing so. That commitment to not rounding off routes allows him to create that window for the quarterback to confidently throw his way.

– Tounkara definitely isn’t a blazer, but he’s also a big-bodied target. Unless you’re an elite-level prospect, you are typically not expected to take the top off a defense. He is a long strider though and can pick up momentum when having a straight path. That is shown in kick returns as well.
– Although he doesn’t have top speed, Tounkara does show the ability to pick up yards after the catch. There are plenty of times on film where he makes the first defender miss before moving the chains even more. Some of that is due to him making strong cuts, while other times he makes use of his size against smaller defenders. He shows good awareness as soon as the ball is caught.
– Lastly, it’s worth highlighting Tounkara’s concentration. He needs to work on his consistency with creating separation, so there are times when he has to make difficult catches in traffic, whether that’s getting vertical over defenders or catching in traffic. He’s reliable in that regard, so that should make him a strong option in the red zone.
