GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators men’s basketball program announced its fourth signing in 10 days on Wednesday, this time from the high school ranks. UF commit Alex Condon officially inked with the school as a member of its 2023 freshman class.

Florida coach Todd Golden commented on the addition of Condon, a 6-foot-11, 230-pound forward/center out of Perth, Australia.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Alex into our program here at Florida,” Golden said. “Alex comes from the Centre of Excellence program in Australia, which has a great track record of producing top Australian talent like Andrew Bogut, Joe Ingles, and a few of my former college teammates including Patty Mills. He’s a great athlete and competitor, and will lift the competitive spirit within our program. We are excited to see how he impacts the team moving forward.”

Condon committed to the Gators on Feb. 2. At the time, he was unranked and fairly unknown as a prospect; however, On3 boosted him into the national spotlight after his pledge by attaching four stars to his profile.

The following month, Condon became a nationally ranked recruit as the No. 13 center and 117th player overall. It’s one thing to receive stars, but landing in the On3 150 was another indication that the Gators found a gem.

Basketball Australia’s Centre for Excellence, which partners with the NBA Global Academy, also counts Matthew Dellavedova, Dante Exum and Luc Longley among its alumni. Josh Giddey is the NBA Global Academy’s first NBA Draft pick.

Alex Condon joins four more signees

Condon joins fellow freshman forward Thomas Haugh (a November signee) and a trio of transfers already in the fold for 2023-24: point guard Walter Clayton Jr., center Micah Handlogten and power forward EJ Jarvis, all of whom signed in the last 10 days.

Jarvis, a Yale grad transfer, was the first to ink with the Gators on April 3. Florida then landed a pair of top-40 overall transfers this week in Handlogten (Marshall) and Clayton (Iona) to go along with Riley Kugel deciding to return for his sophomore season.

Clayton is No. 18 nationally in the On3 transfer portal player rankings, Handlogten is ranked No. 34 and Jarvis checks in at No. 122. Haugh, meanwhile, is the 138th overall recruit in the country in the On3 150 rankings for the 2023 class.

The Gators now have Condon, Haugh and a trio of top transfers to join returning players Denzel AberdeenAlex FudgeRiley KugelWill Richard and Aleks Szymczyk on the 2023-24 roster.
