Todd Golden hiring NYU coach Dave Klatsky to Florida Gators staff

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida is finalizing a deal to add New York University coach Dave Klatsky to Todd Golden’s staff, Gators Online has confirmed. Kris Pursiainen first reported the news.
Klatsky, 44, spent the past three years at NYU, a Division III school. He went 68-16 with the Violets, leading them to three NCAA Tournaments and back-to-back UAA Championships.
This past season was his best at the helm. Klatsky led NYU to the No. 1 ranking in the country, a 29-2 record and the Division III championship game, a 64-60 loss against Trinity (CT).
Klatsky has a couple ties to the UF men’s basketball program. He is the first cousin, once removed, of former walk-on Alex Klatsky, who played for the Gators from 2019-20 to 2023-24.
Klatsky is also reportedly the brother-in-law of Kevin Hovde, who is now the head coach Columbia after three seasons at Florida. Golden had an opening on his staff with Hovde leaving.

Another UF assistant coach, John Andrzejek, was hired as the head coach at Campbell. Golden promoted director of basketball strategy and analytics Jonathan Safir to an assistant coach.
“We’re gonna promote Jonathan Safir to an assistant coaching spot. We’ll go out and hire somebody else, but the good thing is we still have a lot of retention on our staff, but we’re gonna miss those guys a lot,” Golden said on April 1 of losing Hovde and Andrzejek.
