When Florida hosts LSU on Oct. 15, plenty of familiar names will have a front-row seat to take in the action. Some of them are top targets regardless of position, with one being Dijon Johnson.

When speaking with Gators Online on Tuesday, the top-100 cornerback and former Ohio State commit confirmed his attendance for next weekend’s SEC matchup. He made his way to the Swamp for UF’s games against Utah and Kentucky as well.

In addition to being a frequent visitor this fall, Johnson spent multiple days on campus during the weekend of Friday Night Lights and also made an appearance on campus during the spring.

According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Johnson ranks as the No. 10 cornerback and No. 98 player overall in the 2023 class.

“Gainesville, the place is electric. You got 90,000-plus fans and it’s a great academic school. Plus, it’s only two hours away from me. That’s a good factor for me,” Johnson previously told GO. “When you put all those things together, it’s like, dang, what other place could you be?”

As expected, cornerbacks coach Corey Raymond is the staff member spearheading UF’s pursuit. Billy Napier is also in communication, making contact roughly every other day. Patrick Toney, Keary Colbert and Jamar Chaney are additional UF coaches who have reached out to Johnson at some point.

All in all, Florida is the program pushing the hardest for the defensive back’s commitment.

“It’s been getting tighter each and every day, man,” Johnson said of his relationship with Raymond. “Coach Raymond, he’s a GOAT. Being somebody that played the position and one of the best at what they do, that’s key.”

Florida, USC, Miami and Alabama are expected to receive official visits later this year. Johnson has four officials remaining after making the trek up to Columbus in June.

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Gators are trending with odds of 74.7 percent.

Scouting Report on Dijon Johnson

One of the more physically-imposing top cornerbacks in the 2023 cycle, measuring at 6-foot-1, 187 pounds with a wing-span over 6-foot-4. Pairs the high-end speed and length with good straight-line speed, running an electronically-timed 4.58 second 40-yard dash prior to his senior season.

A fluid mover with a smooth and coordinated back pedal. Has shown the ability to transition from his backpedal and flip his hips in downfield coverage. Shows some signs of being a risk-taker at the high school level, jumping passes.

Looks like a pure cornerback as opposed to some of the other big defensive backs in the cycle. Older for the class. — On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
