Top-100 prospect Alex Lloyd commits to Todd Golden and Florida
Todd Golden and the Gators have landed their first commitment for the 2025 cycle.
According to On3’s Joe Tipton, it’s from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Westminster Academy 4-star small forward Alex Lloyd.
The On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, labels Lloyd the No. 51 prospect overall and No. 13 small forward.
Last December, the 6-foot-4, 160-pound Lloyd was a top performer at the City of Palms Classic, grasping the attention of On3 and numerous others.
“Alex Lloyd had an eye opening performance for Westminster Academy (FL),” Tipton said at the time. “The 6-foot-4 guard has elite scoring instincts. He has a confident stroke and can score it bunches. The 6-3 junior can really score the basketball and competes, on both sides of the ball. Makes the right play. Can shoot it and drive it and get to the rim.”
Florida State, Miami, St. John’s and Dayton were additional top contenders for the South Florida native.

Golden witnessed plenty of growth during 2023-24 season
“I felt like we would have a pretty good team.” Todd Golden said. “Obviously we had some kind of fluky situations in non-conference, with ZP [Zyon Pullin] missing the first three games, because he played in Portsmouth. Micah [Handlogten] sprained his ankle in the first play, in the Pitt game. We don’t have him against Pitt, Baylor, or Wake Forest. We had guys in and out of the lineup a little bit.
“We were good, but we just weren’t super connected yet. We knew we weren’t playing to our ceiling. Obviously started 1-3. Not exactly a great start. When we won at Missouri, then came back and won those two against Mississippi State and Georgia, we started to get some confidence.
“I think we went to Kentucky and won right after that. When we got that win at Rupp, I think that was kind of the moment where everybody in the program, specifically the players, were like, We feel like we can play with anybody anywhere, beat anybody anywhere.”
