Top-100 prospect Jameer Grimsley has Florida Gators in final three
Surprise, surprise..
Although he officially visited five schools this month and Florida was not one of them, four-star cornerback Jameer Grimsley included the Gators in his top three on Thursday.
A commitment date is set for Saturday, July 1.
“It’s a pretty big deal to me,” Grimsley told Gators Online when UF offered. “It’s one of the offers I’ve been waiting on. I just like the history behind them. When I was a kid, that was my favorite team to watch; it was my dream school. I also like that they are home and play in the SEC.”

A product of Tampa (Fla.) Catholic, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound Grimsley is also heavily considering Michigan and Alabama. Those schools, however, did receive an official visit in recent weeks. UF played host on June 20, but it was for an unofficial visit.
Regardless of what type of visit though, it was an eye-opening one that certainly made a dent in Grimsley’s recruitment. It lasted roughly nine hours and marked the second time meeting with the Gators since landing an offer earlier in the year.
Now, the Gators could potentially be in the driver’s seat for the On3 top-100 prospect.
Gators secondary coach Corey Raymond is looking to reel in another big fish from the 2024 class, with Grimsley fitting that label as On3’s 77th-ranked prospect overall.
“I really liked it,” Grimsley told GO’s Keith Niubuhr after last week’s visit. “Just spending time with the coaches. Florida was late in my recruitment and they said that themselves. They said they’ve got some catching up to do and they’re prepared to do it. They’re pursuing me hard I’ll say that.”

Also, Grimsley said earlier in the year there was a good chance the Gators would not receive an official visit due to the proximity advantage. That was before it was announced that prospects will have an unlimited amount of OVs starting July 1, so taking one to UF is now a strong possibility.

Scouting Report on Jameer Grimsley
Physically-gifted defensive back with one of the best combinations of length, athleticism and ball skills among 2024 cornerback prospects.
A taller corner, measuring in at around 6-foot-1.5, 185 pounds prior to his senior season. Has elite length with arms that have measured well over 33 inches, to go with 10-inch hands. Grimsley turns in strong marks as a sprinter in track and field, running 10.94 seconds in the 100 meter and 21.89 second in the 200 meters as a junior.
Grimsley plays on both sides of the ball as a receiver and cornerback/safety. Shows an easy, long stride in the open field. Ball skills register on the high end among cornerback prospects given his experience on offense. Has the ability to win contested catches as a receiver. Tracks and locates the football. Not afraid to lower his shoulder and strike pass catchers.

Finished his junior season with 25 catches for 356 yards and three touchdowns. Grimsley transferred from Bloomingdale High School to Tampa Catholic prior to his senior season. More of a size and skill set projection and will need to ratchet up his production as a senior.
Older for the cycle, turning 19-years old in the middle of his senior season. Will be a 20 year-old college freshman.
