GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida held its fifth practice of fall camp on Saturday inside The Swamp. The Gators opened practice to the public for the first time since 2014.

Gators Online was in attendance to take in the sights and sounds of the day. Here are the top five plays from the 11-on-11 portions of Florida’s practice.

5) Outside run by Trevor Etienne

Sophomore running back Trevor Etienne, a Freshman All-SEC selection, has looked noticeably faster in fall training camp this month. His speed and quickness were on display during the second portion of 11-on-11 drills as he broke off one of the longest runs of the day.

Etienne was handed the ball and took off behind redshirt sophomore left tackle Austin Barber, who made a great block against redshirt sophomore EDGE Justus Boone. Etienne then cut upfield and blew by three defensive backs before his right stiff arm on sophomore safety Miguel Mitchell, who committed a face mask penalty.

4) Treyaun Webb vs. Miguel Mitchell

Another running back with a highlight play on Saturday was freshman Treyaun Webb, one of 17 early enrollees from Florida’s 2023 class. He received one of the biggest reactions from the fans in attendance at the open practice.

Webb took some reps with the starting offense during the first portion of 11-on-11 drills and made the most of his opportunity. He evaded an arm tackle attempt from Boone and then ran over Mitchell, drawing a bunch of “ooh’s” from the crowd.

3) Max Brown to Marcus Burke

Florida redshirt freshman quarterback Max Brown made several impressive throws during Saturday’s practice, including perfect balls during 1-on-1’s to sophomore receiver Caleb Douglas down the sideline and freshman wideout Andy Jean in the end zone.

One of Brown’s best passes of the day came during the open portion of 11-on-11. During his first series of the day, Brown fit the ball into a tight window on a throw to redshirt sophomore WR Marcus Burke. He made the contested catch inside the 5-yard line.

2) Graham Mertz to Marcus Burke

With starting receiver Ricky Pearsall missing practice on Saturday, Burke was one of the go-to targets for redshirt junior quarterback Graham Mertz. They connected a few times during 11-on-11 drills, including the play below.

Mertz faked the handoff to Webb on a play-action pass and then rolled to his right. With redshirt sophomore linebacker Scooby Williams closing in, Mertz located Burke coming across the field and hit him in stride for a first down.

1) Montrell Johnson Jr. vs. Teradja Mitchell

This play was definitely the highlight of the day. The result was a touchdown for the offense, but Ohio State transfer Teradja Mitchell earned some new fans from the Florida faithful in attendance.

Working from just inside the 10, Mertz threw to junior running back Montrell Johnson Jr. out of the backfield and he raced toward the pylon. The redshirt senior linebacker met Johnson at the goal line and delivered a crushing blow that caused his own helmet to come off. Despite the hit, Johnson still scored.
