Top Plays: Watch best moments from Florida's win over Missouri
It wasn’t pretty, but there’s no such thing as ugly win — especially when it snaps a six-game losing streak in SEC play. First-year coach Billy Napier and the Gators won their first conference game of the season Saturday with a 24-17 victory over Missouri.
Tied 10-10 at the break, Florida’s offense came alive in the second half with back-to-back touchdown drives behind its rushing attack, racking up 231 yards on the ground. Montrell Johnson led the team with 86 yards and a touchdown, while Trevor Etienne had a career-high 83 yards.
Anthony Richardson struggled Saturday, finishing with a season-low 66 passing yards and committing two turnovers. However, he made some key plays to help the Gators build their lead, scrambling for 32 yards on fourth-and-2 to set up Johnson’s score and throwing a fourth-quarter touchdown to Ricky Pearsall on third down.
The Gators bent but didn’t break on defense. The unit gave up too many third-and-long conversions, but also forced a field goal and made an interception in the red zone. That was one of two turnovers by Jaydon Hill, whose pick-six proved to be the difference in the game.

Ventrell Miller played lights out, logging a team-high 11 tackles (10 solo), two tackles-for-loss and a quarterback hurry. Florida recorded a season-high 4.0 sacks Saturday, with Brenton Cox Jr., Gervon Dexter Sr., Chris McClellan and Princely Umanmielen all getting to Tigers quarterback Brady Cook, who threw for 220 yards.
The Gators also got a big play on special teams from Xzavier Henderson. His 48-yard punt return marked Florida’s longest return of the 2022 season and led to a 37-yard field goal by Adam Mihalek, who later missed from 50 and 47.
