Torrence named a semifinalist for Rotary Lombardi Award
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators senior right guard O’Cyrus Torrence was named a semifinalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award. The Rotary Lombardi Award goes annually to the college football lineman —offense or defense-who, in addition to outstanding performance and ability, best exemplifies the character and discipline of Vince Lombardi.
Torrence has started seven games this season and is the highest-graded guard in the nation according to Pro Football Focus with a 90.2 grade, ahead of the next closest grade of 86.8. The Greensburg, Louisiana native’s run block grade of 92.5 also tops the nation, over six points ahead of the rest of the country.
“I like playing next to Cybo. I mean, he’s a stud,” Florida center Kingsley Eguakun said of Torrence. “You hear all the good stuff: he’s strong, big, all the good things and intangibles you want from a guard. And he’s smart. I just like playing next to Cybo.”
Torrence transferred to Florida after starting for three years at Louisiana under Billy Napier. In more than 400 snaps this season, Torrence has yet to allow a sack or commit a penalty. He’s played more than 2,000 snaps in college without allowing a sack.
Further balloting will take place from November 4-14th. At that time the Final Four will be announced on November 17th. Those four individuals will be invited to attend the gala award presentation in Houston on December 7th when the winner of the 49th Rotary Lombardi Award will be announced live.

Torrence named an Associated Press midseason All-American
Torrence hasn’t taken a step back as he transitioned from the Sun Belt to the SEC. In fact, he’s been one of the best offensive linemen in the country. The Associated Press recognized his play by naming him to the its midseason All-American First Team.
The AP All-American list is one of five publications in which a Gator could earn an All-American brick outside of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Torrence has started six games this season and is the highest-graded guard in the nation according to PFF. The Greensburg, Louisiana native also earned AP Preseason All-American status prior to this season.
Torrence was Secon Team All-Sun Belt as a sophomore in 2020 and First Team All-Sun Belt in 2021. He is also a two-time Joe Moore Award Semifinalist.
