Transfer QB Harrison Bailey commits to Florida Gators

The Florida Gators have found their transfer quarterback. Harrison Bailey, most recently of Louisville, has committed to Billy Napier’s program. He officially visited Florida over the weekend. Last Thursday, Bailey threw for the Gators staff and apparently did well.
He signed with Florida on Monday.
Bailey, listed at 6-foot-5 and 230 pounds, has one season of eligibility remaining. The Gators were in need of depth behind returning starter DJ Lagway, a rising sophomore. Bailey now will compete with 4-star 2025 signee Tramell Jones and returnees Aidan Warner and Clay Millen to be QB2.
Florida signed Charlotte transfer quarterback Deshawn Purdie in December. But he never enrolled and was given a release Jan. 13. He has since committed to Wake Forest.
Harrison Bailey is well-traveled, but has a strong arm and once was a promising young QB at Tennessee. He also has played at UNLV and Louisville.

Bailey appeared in six games over his two seasons in Louisville, five games in 2024. Last year, he completed 24 of 33 passes for 227 yards and three touchdowns in a backup role. Prior to landing with the Cardinals, he played in six games for UNLV in 2022. That season, Bailey was 30-of-58 passing for 318 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception.
Bailey was a 4-star recruit at Marietta (Ga.) and the No. 4-ranked quarterback in the 2020 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He was the No. 8 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 66 overall prospect in the class when he signed with Tennessee. As a Vols true freshman, Bailey completed 70.6 percent of his attempts for 578 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
All told, Bailey has thrown for 1,190 yards, 10 touchdowns and 3 interceptions while completing 63.2 percent of his passes over five seasons. The 2020 Covid season did not count against his eligibility.
