Trey Dean III invited to 2022 NFL Scouting Combine
Trey Dean III has been invited to the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, he announced on his Twitter account Monday.
The 6-foot-3, 206-pound safety is the second Florida player to receive an invite to the combine, which will take place March 1-7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
“All Glory to GOD,” Dean tweeted Monday with a screenshot of his invitation.
Dean will be joined in Indy by defensive end Zachary Carter, who was invited on Saturday. Florida sent nine players to the NFL Combine last year, eight of whom went on to be drafted.
In addition to Dean and Carter, running backs Dameon Pierce and Malik Davis, linebacker Jeremiah Moon and junior cornerback Kaiir Elam are UF’s other combine hopefuls. Elam has yet to announce whether he will turn pro or return to school in 2022.
Trey Dean III had his most productive season at safety
Trey Dean III’s senior campaign was by far the most productive season of his collegiate career. He became a full-time starter in Florida’s secondary after two years as a backup.

Dean started nine games at cornerback during his true freshman season, then switched to nickel as a sophomore and was eventually benched after six starts. He made just one start last year, but found a new home with his position change to safety.
Dean made the most of the move in 2021, starting 12 of 13 games and leading the team with 93 tackles. That not only set a single-season career high for Dean, but surpassed his tackle total (86) from the previous three years combined (26 tackles in 2018 and 2019, 34 in 2020).
After no games with double-digit tackles from 2018-20, Dean made a career-high 11 tackles in three games in 2021 (Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina) and also recorded 10 tackles against Florida State.
In addition to his team-high 93 tackles, Dean finished the year with 3.0 TFL, 1.5 sacks, an interception and nine pass breakups. For his UF career, Dean totaled 179 tackles, 8.0 TFL, 4.5 sacks, four interceptions and 15 pass breakups.
