Washington State transfer Efe Abogidi includes Gators in top four
CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported Tuesday that Washington State center transfer Efe Abogidi has cut his list down to four schools, and among them is Todd Golden’s Florida Gators.
On3 ranks Abogidi as the No. 22 overall player and the No. 3 overall center in the transfer portal with a four-star, 97 overall rating.
Abogidi announced on April 12 that he would be entering the 2022 NBA Draft while keeping his college eligibility. On April 17, he entered the transfer portal.
The 6-foot-10 center led the Cougars in the 2021-22 season in rebounds per game (5.8) and blocks per game (1.8). He averaged 8.5 points while shooting 51% from field goal range.
After receiving interest from schools across the country, Abogidi is now down to four schools: Arizona, Maryland, Florida and Washington State.

What Abogidi could do for UF
One of the main issues head coach Todd Golden saw with the Gators upon taking the job in the 2021-22 season was rebounding.
“That was an area that was surprising to me when evaluating the team and the roster that they didn’t have a lot of success in because I think the pieces are there, and I think the talent is there in terms of being able to get on the glass,” Golden told Gators Online and others. “I think if we can lift those two areas up a couple of pegs and stay consistent and get better in other areas, we should be back in the tournament next year.”
Abogidi would be able to step right into the Florida locker room and be a dominant force off the glass while taking the load off Florida forward Colin Castleton.
Golden has emphasized that he wants his teams to have depth, and Abogidi provides that and more.
