WATCH: Florida plants flag on FSU's field, leading to Mike Norvell throwing it
Falling to 2-10 on the season is bad enough, but losing by 20 points to your rival and seeing them plant their flag on your field shortly thereafter is bad as it gets.
On Saturday, that was the situation for Mike Norvell and Florida State, as the Florida Gators went into Tallahassee and recorded a 31-11 victory to close out the regular season.
Then once the game was over, Gators defender George Gumbs Jr. wasted little time running to midfield to plant Florida’s flag. That obviously led to plenty of raw emotion on the Seminoles’ side, which included Norvell, as the head coach had some choice words for Billy Napier before getting his hands on the Gators flag and then throwing it.

Napier, however, didn’t find it humorous like the majority of the Gators’ players and fan base.
“It’s not who we want to be as a program,” Napier said after the game. “It’s embarrassing to me and it’s a distraction to a really well-played football game. We shouldn’t have done that, and we won’t do that going forward, and there will be consequences for all involved.”
