WATCH: Tim Tebow gets Gators ready for Florida State
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — In less than one day the rivalry will be renewed. For the past four years (spanning three games) the Florida Gators have held bragging rights over the Florida State Seminoles.
The 66th meeting between the two schools will come at Doak Campbell Stadium, the first time UF has been to Tallahassee since 2018.
This rivalry, which takes place on a new Friday date this season, has taken hold of FSU head coach Mike Norvell.
“It’s the passion, the intensity, the pageantry of it. It’s all of it. I’m a fan of college football. You can’t speak of great rivalries without mentioning this one. Obviously, the game we played earlier this year, it’s what people remember,” Norvell said this week. “It’s an honor to be able to be a part of it. The reason why I jump into it? Because I respect it. It’s earned the level of respect for all the great players that have been a part of this game, the blood, sweat, the tears that have been invested just to win this one.”

UF head coach Billy Napier spoke about the rivalry this week as well.
“When I was growing up, Florida and Florida State were dominating college football. It was Steve Spurrier, it was Bobby Bowden, and pretty awesome to be a part of this game. Certainly having been at ACC for seven years and played against Florida State in the past, a ton of respect for that place and the history and tradition there. So I’m excited about the opportunities that come with this game. Certainly we all are very aware of the history, the tradition, the rivalry, and the things that come with that.”
Tim Tebow played in this rivalry four times, finishing with a perfect record. If anyone knows what it means to play in this game, it’s him.
Tebow narrates new Gators hype video
“Hear that? It’s rivalry week. 60 minutes that last all year. For some, these 60 last a lifetime. The stop and pop. The greatest game ever played in The Swamp. The soak at Doak. 60 minutes kids will dream about being a part of. The chance to lace them up. To go to battle and get a little dirt on you. 60 minutes to represent and lay the foundation for the next generation. Embrace the moment. On the road. Florida. Florida State. Work ‘em silly, Gators.”
