The Florida Gators and 3-star receiver Josiah Abdullah have parted ways.

Abdullah, who attends College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy, told Hayes Fawcett of On3 on Monday he has de-committed from the program. During the weekend, Gators Online reported there was chatter that Abdullah might not be in the 2025 Gators class for much longer.

Details are limited, but trusted sources tell us Florida had been recruiting other receivers harder of late. We no longer expect Abdullah to officially visit the Gators.

Abdullah’s de-commitment leaves the Gators with only four commitments for 2025. He is the No. 80 receiver in the country and Not 493 overall recruit nationally for the On3 Industry Rankings.

Back in April, Abdullah said after another trip to Gainesville he was “definitely locked in.” That day, he shadowed freshman Florida linebacker Myles Graham for the day. They’re former teammates.

“It was great,” Abdullah said. “We got to walk around and talk to the academic advisers and counselors, and just spend time in the film room. Went over film and stuff with the coaches, then they went over some plays with the players. That was a great day to get a feel for how it is to be a player.”

A day later, Abdullah watched the Gators scrimmage inside The Swamp.

“Before the scrimmage, I went to meetings and they got everything figured out — how they’d go into the scrimmage and the type of approach they were going to go in with,” Abdullah said. “I was impressed. It was great I loved the speed of the scrimmage. And I loved how everything they did correlated with what they said in the meetings. I was also a fan of Coach Billy (Gonzales) and Coach (Billy) Napier and their energy toward the players.”
