Wyatt Langford to miss time with an injury
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators outfielder Wyatt Langford will be out for an undetermined amount of time after sustaining an injury Friday, March 10 against Siena. Langford was hit by a pitch in the groin in a win on Friday night. He remained in the game to play defense but was subbed out before his next scheduled plate appearance.
“He was evaluated and treated by the doctors last night,” Florida head coach Kevin O’Sullivan said. “It’s going to take a little bit of time for him to get back. There’s really no timeline but we will get him back. These things are going to take a little bit of time.”
Langford underwent surgery before Saturday’s game and will miss an extended period of time.
Gators adjusting with Langford
Without Langford in the lineup, Florida started Rutgers transfer Richie Schiekofer. The left-handed hitter went 1-3 against Siena on Saturday. Florida has several players that can help fill in during Langford’s recovery. Schiekofer has started four games this season. O’Sullivan also mentioned Deric Fabian and Dale Thomas, two infielders, as players who took fly balls and could fill in for Langford.
