Zachary Carter invited to 2022 NFL Scouting Combine
Zachary Carter has been invited to the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine, he announced on his Twitter account Saturday.
The 6-foot-4, 285-pound defensive lineman is the first Florida player to receive an invite to the combine, which will take place March 1-7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
“First blessing of 2022. See yall in Indy,” Carter tweeted Saturday with a screenshot of his invite. “Thank you to everybody who’s been rocking with me before the whole world catches on.”
Carter returned for his redshirt senior season and improved his draft stock in 2021. He made a career-high 8.0 sacks, which ranked eighth in the SEC, and recorded 30-plus tackles (31) for the third consecutive year.

Following the regular season, Carter opted out of Florida’s bowl game to begin preparing for the 2022 NFL Draft. He finished his UF career with 105 total tackles, 27 TFL and 17.5 sacks.
“I want to start off by thanking God most importantly for a healthy season, and giving me the ability to play the game I love,” Carter wrote in his farewell note on Dec. 10. “I want to thank Coach Mac and Coach Rumph for giving me the opportunity to play at the University of Florida. Thank you Coach Mullen for coming in and leading us to 3 New Year’s Six bowl games in a row! I want to thank the whole Florida staff for helping me grow as a man, on and off the field. Thank you Coach David Turner for pouring into me the last 3 years.
“I want to thank the entire Gator nation for the love over the last 5 years. I will cherish my time spent here forever and I will always be a Gator 4L! I came into The Swamp as a boy and I am leaving as a man.

“Most importantly, I want to thank my teammates for sticking together through all of the adversity we’ve been through. It was not a year we expected to have, but we stayed solid through thick and thin. I love y’all boys and we will forever be locked in! I know you will bring the Gator Standard back to where it should be.”
“To my family, I do not know what I would do without you all. Thank you for having my back on this journey and the sacrifices you have made to get to this point. I love you all dearly!”
Prior to competing in the NFL Combine, Carter is one of three Gators playing in the Reese’s Senior Bowl on Feb. 5, along with Jeremiah Moon and Dameon Pierce.
Carter will likely have several teammates join him in Indianapolis as well. Florida sent nine players to the NFL Combine last year, eight of whom went on to be drafted.
