The July 4 fireworks started early for Florida State on Thursday as the Seminoles landed a commitment from four-star interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph. The Houston County (Ga.) High standout chose the Seminoles over the Memphis Tigers after narrowing his decision down to those schools.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, the 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman is one of the top 200 players in the country overall and the 12th-ranked prospect at his position.

Florida State has been trending in Joseph’s recruitment for a few months now. He visited FSU multiple times before decommitting from rival Florida. Then, the four-star spent an entire week on campus for spring break with his cousin and Alabama transfer TJ Ferguson.

“The feeling was amazing getting back to Doak,” Joseph said at the time. “Watching the coaches, all the players running through the (drills) was amazing to be around. It’s always good watching Coach [Alex] Atkins. He’s one of those coaches that it’s him and the player working together. He’s a very good teacher. He’s a man of his word, and he teaches you the game the right way. And he’s a technician, so you can be the best player.”

From that point on, it was clear the Seminoles were the team to beat in this recruitment. Five On3 analysts made predictions in favor of the ‘Noles, including On3 Vice President of Recruiting and Transfer Portal Steve Wiltfong.

Joseph also made it known on X, formerly known as Twitter, a few days prior to his commitment that he would be shutting down his recruitment once he committed. So it sounds as if the lineman won’t take any other visits throughout the season.
