4-star RB Amari Clemons commits to FSU after back-to-back visits
After making back-to-back visits to Florida State the past two weekends, Marianna four-star running back Amari Clemons committed to the Seminoles on Monday.
The momentum had been building here with Florida State ever since the new offensive staff started to come together, and that carried over to his visit to Tallahassee last weekend.
Clemons, who On3 rates as one of the top 20 running backs in the country and a top-200 prospect overall, becomes Florida State’s sixth commitment in the 2026 class — a group that is ranked among the top 10 nationally.
“I’ve been praying over this choice,” Clemons told Warchant. “FSU they never changed. They always stayed the same from the first time I met them. My mom loved it, and she likes that it’s closer to home, but she loved everything about it. If I wanted to come visit and see her, I could any weekend.”
Clemons rushed for 1,880 yards and 34 touchdowns last season. He averaged 12.3 yards per carry and had nine 100-plus-yard games.

On the Florida State offense with new coordinator Gus Malzahn: “It’s a really great offense, and Coach Malzahn is one of the best with running backs. I want a Doak Walker Award, and I’m sure he probably wants one as well with one of his running backs this year. He really runs the ball … and with the running back room I will be in, I know we are all going to make each other better. I’m excited about what it’s going to look like.”
His relationship with RBs coach David “Coach YAC” Johnson: “Coach YAC, that’s my guy! He truly is. When I first met him, there was a spark between us that was different and immediate with how we connected. Our relationship from there has only been going up and up since that point. It’s going great, and it’s only going to get better with me and him moving forward.”
On Florida State coach Mike Norvell’s reaction to the commitment: “He was really loud, and he was very proud about it. He was very excited about the decision.”
On the future at Florida State: “I feel FSU has a winning team now, if not a great chance at being in the playoffs. I feel like it’s close and about to happen with this team taking off. Everything is coming together with the team, staff. I see them as the team that started off 10-0, and you see the building process with the team. So I really feel like they are close to taking off now. I’m excited to be a part of it.”
