In between bowl preparations and a 9-3 regular-season finish, the Florida State football team has a couple of big recruiting weekends to try and capitalize off a five-win turnaround. The Seminoles hosted coveted tight end Kyle Morlock over the weekend, among many other prospects.

Morlock is a 6-foot-7 transfer tight end out of Shorter University, a Division-II program. This season, Morlock led the team with 30 catches for 446 yards and 6 touchdowns.

After his FSU official visit, Morlock discussed on Sunday his takeaways from the ‘Noles.

“I had a great time. Really enjoyed the coaches and the atmosphere. Overall, a great time,” Morlock said. “Just the people. The culture that’s been made here. All the people I met seemed really cool.”

Morlock, who also visited for the FSU-Florida game, said he got to see much more of the Florida State campus during his second visit to Tallahassee. He continued on what he wants to see out of the FSU program.

“The main stuff I am looking for is really just the culture of the team,” Morlock said. “Everybody getting together and getting along. That’s some of the things that makes a team really good. When you have that culture and team bond, then you know it’s going to be a good team. They’ve got a lot of guys coming back so they’re definitely going to be good next year.”

The talented sophomore tight end was asked if Seminoles like star quarterback Jordan Travis coming back for 2023 influences his decision.

“It definitely does. Like I said, the team is going to be special next year,” Morlock said. “Knowing that, it’s definitely a good thing to keep in mind that you’ve got real dogs coming back.”

Morlock praised tight ends coach Chris Thomsen for his development of Florida State’s tight ends, saying that’s a big plus for FSU.

Of course, Morlock had plenty of time during his official visit to spend time with FSU head coach Mike Norvell as well.

“He’s one of the realest people I’ve talked to,” Morlock said. “He’ll always be honest with you and keep it real, which I respect a lot. That’s one of the coolest things about him.”

Morlock said he wants to decide his transfer destination, “most likely by early next week.” He has trips to Illinois, Auburn and Tennessee next weekend

“I still have more official visits to take. I plan on making a decision soon. I really enjoyed the weekend and I really like the campus,” Morlock said. “Overall, it was a great weekend. … That was the main thing, the people. That’s the main thing I am looking for in a place. Everyone I met here kept it super chill.”
