Another One! Florida State lands South Carolina DE transfer Gilber Edmond
College football teams often develop pipelines with successful high school programs. Florida State appears to be doing it with the South Carolina Gamecocks.
Just a few weeks after the Seminoles landed an elite offensive playmaker from South Carolina, on Tuesday they snared a commitment from defensive end transfer Gilber Edmond.
Edmond, who originally hails from Fort Pierce on the eastern coast of Florida, enjoyed a very productive sophomore season with the Gamecocks in 2022. He recorded 39 tackles, including nine tackles for loss and two sacks; he also was credited with nine quarterback hurries.

“The success that they have developing defensive ends and the fact that they are the home state school stood out,” Edmond told On3’s Hayes Fawcett of his decision.
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound pass-rusher took a visit to Florida State in early January and came away impressed with the program and how successful the Seminoles have been with previous transfers, including defensive ends Jermaine Johnson and Jared Verse.

“Yeah, they showed me their history in the transfer portal and how they developed them,” Edmond said after his FSU visit. “That played a big impact and will play a big impact in my decision. That’s more fuel to fire to get to see that and see the success they have had.”
In December, Florida State received a commitment from coveted tight end transfer Jaheim Bell from South Carolina. And the Seminoles also landed former Gamecocks each of the past two years — offensive tackle Jazston Turnetine in 2022 and safety Jammie Robinson and defensive end Keir Thomas in 2021.
