Early in his high school recruiting process as part of the class of 2023, Panama City tight end Randy Pittman committed to Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles.

Pittman ended up changing his decision and signing with UCF, but now he’s going back to where it all started.

After visiting Florida State recently, Pittman committed to the ‘Noles on Saturday. The decision reunites him with former UCF head coach Gus Malzahn, who is now the Seminoles’ offensive coordinator.

A 6-foot-2, 225-pounder, Pittman was a productive tight end during both of his seasons at UCF. He caught 19 passes for 215 yards and one touchdown in 2023, then followed that up with 32 catches for 416 yards and two touchdowns this fall. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Along with Malzahn, Pittman likely was excited about reuniting with new passing game coordinator Tim Harris Jr., who called plays last year at UCF. And he also had a strong relationship with Norvell during his recruitment in high school.

Pittman made plays in a variety of ways at Mosley High, compiling over 2,000 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns during his career. He also rushed for seven touchdowns, started at defensive end and was a standout basketball player.

Pittman’s arrival will bolster a blossoming tight end position for Florida State. The Seminoles return a pair of talented freshmen in Landen Thomas and Amaree Williams (though Williams is expected to split time at defensive end), and they are bringing back Markeston Douglas after one year at Arizona State.
