Bailey delivers game-winning hit as FSU stays perfect with 4-3 win over Georgetown

Myles Bailey might not be batting at the bottom of the Florida State lineup for too much longer.
But on Sunday afternoon, the massive freshman was in the perfect spot.
With two on and two out in a 3-3 game, Bailey lined a rocket shot to left-center field for the go-ahead RBI single. It was clocked at 115 mph off the bat, which FSU head coach Link Jarrett said afterward might be the highest number he’s ever seen on the Trackman equipment.
Peyton Prescott then pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, ending it with a strikeout on a 96 mph fastball as the Seminoles finished off the sweep of Georgetown with a 4-3 victory at Dick Howser Stadium.
Florida State is now 11-0 and will have five games in the next seven days, starting with a Tuesday home date against North Florida.
Bailey had two hits on the day, including a laser double to center field, and finished the weekend 6-for-10 overall. He also drew two walks, and one of those helped lead to the Seminoles’ first run of the game on an RBI groundout by Gage Harrelson.
But unlike Saturday’s 11-2 romp, runs were hard to come by on Sunday for the Seminoles.
In fact, the game was tied 1-1 heading to the bottom of the seventh inning. But a Drew Faurot walk, a BJ Gibson single and then another walk to Bailey loaded the bases with no outs for Harrelson. He delivered with a two-run single to left to give the Seminoles some breathing room.

It got real tight again a few moments later, however. Ben Barrett walked the leadoff batter on four pitches and then gave up two singles as the Hoyas tied the game at 3-3.
The bottom of the inning was when Bailey untied it and gave the Seminoles their 11th straight win to start the season.
Starting pitcher Wes Mendes was again very good for Florida State, allowing just three hits and walking one while striking out eight in five innings of work. Bailey, Gibson and Harrelson each had two hits for the FSU offense, while Faurot scored two runs.
The Seminoles play UNF on Tuesday, followed by Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday and a weekend series against Lipscomb.
