Big-Time DE Commit for FSU! Four-star pass-rusher DD Holmes says he'll be a Seminole
The fireworks are starting early for the Florida State Seminoles, as four-star Maryland defensive end DD Holmes announced Saturday he has committed to FSU. He made his announcement on Instagram Live.
“The people at FSU when I went on my unofficial and official visit … felt like home,” Holmes said during his announcement.
This was a massive pick-up for the Seminoles, as Holmes becomes FSU’s first defensive end commitment in the 2024 class.
“My official visit was big,” said Holmes, the No. 135 player in the 2024 On300. “I felt like they could do nothing but help themselves and that’s exactly what they did. They just reassured me why I loved it when I went on my unofficial.”

FSU hosted Holmes for that official visit last weekend, and the four-star pass-rusher clearly came away impressed.
“I had a great time … just spending time with the coaches and current players, recruits and a couple commits,” Holmes said before flying back out of Tallahassee early Sunday morning. “It was a great time meeting them and spending 48 hours with them. … [Coach Mike Norvell] just brings non-stop energy, and I love that.”

One of the key positives for Florida State during that visit was the interaction between Holmes and All-ACC defensive end Jared Verse.
“Probably just moments where, like bowling and stuff like that, I could just connect with the guys and let loose a little bit with them …,” Holmes said. “It was great to see [Verse] outside of football mode. He’s a great person, very charismatic, and it was a great time. …
“We spent a lot of time together, so I got a lot of insight from him and others.”
