Florida State’s recent hot streak was extinguished Saturday inside the Tucker Center, and it took a scorching second-half offensive performance from Clemson to do it.

The Tigers blew open a tied game at halftime by hitting shot after shot — and grabbing rebound after rebound — in the second half. When they went up by 10 points with under eight minutes remaining, they were shooting 73 percent for the period.

Clemson then cruised from there, picking up a 78-67 victory. With the win, the Tigers improved to 13-5 and 3-4 in the ACC. Florida State fell to 11-7, 5-2.

The Seminoles were trying to win their sixth straight ACC game for the first time in four years, and they appeared to be on their way to doing that in the first half. They led for nearly 17 minutes of that period — by as many as eight points — before Clemson tied it at the break.

The Tigers then stayed hot after halftime. They went on a 7-0 run to start the period and led by as many as 13 in the second half.

Florida State wasn’t great offensively in either period. The Seminoles shot 40.7 percent from the field and 22.2 percent (4-for-18) from 3-point range.
