The Florida State men’s basketball team would have had a tough time pulling off the upset Wednesday night at Clemson with Matthew Cleveland in the lineup.

Without Cleveland, who is FSU’s leading scorer and rebounder? The Seminoles couldn’t even keep things interesting after the first few possessions.

Clemson raced out to a double-digit lead in less than four minutes, and the Tigers never looked back against the short-handed Seminoles. They opened up a 21-point lead at halftime and cruised to a 94-54 victory.

It marked the largest margin of victory ever for the Tigers in an ACC game.

Clemson improved to 19-7 overall and 11-4 in the ACC, while Florida State fell to 8-19 and 6-10.

The Tigers dominated the Seminoles in just about every statistical category. They more than doubled Florida State up in scoring in the paint, 38-18, and nearly tripled them up in bench scoring, 36-13.

Clemson also claimed a 34-20 edge in rebounding and shot better than Florida State from the field, the free-throw line and 3-point range.

Florida State seemingly had no chance while playing without Cleveland, who has been hampered by back spasms.

Four Tigers finished in double-figures scoring, led by PJ Hall with 20 points and Chase Hunter with 18.

Freshman Baba Miller, who received his first career start in place of Cleveland, led the Seminoles with a career-high 12 points and six rebounds.

Florida State returns to action Saturday against visiting Boston College.
