Davidson star transfer Putnam commits to play for Florida State baseball

The 2025 Florida State baseball team is still in the midst of trying to reach Omaha. But with the transfer portal officially open for business, the Seminoles’ coaches have to think about what that 2026 roster will look like.
And apparently it will have a high-profile transfer on it.
The website 64analytics.com reported that Davidson star Eli Putnam would be playing for the Seminoles next season.
Putnam is listed at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds and was one of the premier power hitters in the Atlantic 10 the last two years.
Playing predominantly second base, the right-handed slugger hit .349 with 19 homers and 62 RBIs in 56 games in 2025. He also had 18 doubles, a slugging percentage of .660 and 13 stolen bases in 15 attempts.
In 2024, Putnam played most of the season at first base and led the A-10 with 16 homers and a .679 slugging percentage. He also led the Wildcats in doubles (16), batting average (.352) and hit-by-pitches (13) and was fourth in the conference in RBIs (58) and runs (57).

So, over the last two years the versatile Putnam has a .350 batting average with 35 home runs, 120 RBIs, 34 doubles and a slugging percentage well over .660.
Which is why he was ranked as one of the Top 10 players in the portal by 64analytics. If he does indeed wind up at Florida State it seems likely he would be in line to take over the starting second base spot of Drew Faurot, who could be an early-round draft pick after the season.
