Four-star legacy defensive end Lamont Green Jr. signs with Florida State
The Florida State Seminoles added a very familiar name on the first day of the early signing period, as four-star defensive end commit and Miami native Lamont Green Jr. made things official and signed with FSU on Wednesday.
He was the first 2023 signee to sign his National Letter of Intent.
A prized legacy commitment for Florida State since pledging in February of his sophomore year nearly two years ago, Green is also one of the highest-rated prospects in the Seminoles’ 2023 recruiting class. Green rates as the nation’s No. 28 edge rusher and the No. 256 overall prospect in the country, according to the On3 Conensus.
Following his official visit to Tallahassee this past weekend, Green said he “can’t wait to be” at FSU, explaining that it feels surreal to finally become a ‘Nole.
“Best experience of my entire life. … I would never trade it for the world,” Green said.

The Gulliver Prep standout is the son of former Florida State starting linebacker Lamont Green, an All-ACC performer and member of the Seminoles’ defense during the heart of the Dynasty Era from 1994-1998. He helped FSU reach two national title games, including the very first BCS National Championship game.

Now, Green Jr. joins a loaded Florida State defensive line class that is expected to include two more four-star signees and transfers.
Here is an On3 scouting summary of Green before his senior season:
Edge rusher who is able to wreak havoc on offenses due to his get off and ability to bend the edge. Led the Gulliver Prep defense to a regional final totaling 54 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and 4 sacks during his junior season. Has the length to strike opponents first and keep his chest clean. Does an excellent job with his hands and disengaging. Father, Lamont Green, played linebacker at Florida State and was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in 1999.
