Florida State’s big-hearted senior offensive lineman, Dillan Gibbons, and some of his teammates are once again stepping up to lead a charitable cause.

Gibbons, quarterback Jordan Travis and defensive lineman Malakai Menzer have raised more than $15,000 in less than 24 hours through a GoFundMe drive to support southwest Florida residents affected by Hurricane Ian.

All three athletes are Florida natives, and Menzer is from Port Charlotte, which was devastated by the storm.

Gibbons’ Big Man, Big Heart foundation has already raised several hundred thousand dollars for charities during his two years as a Seminole.

“If every Florida State Football fan gave just $5, think of how much money we could raise to help those in need,” Gibbons wrote on the fundraising site. “If every college football fan at every college in the State of Florida gave just $5, we could help even more people. 100% of the funds raised will go to support those in need in the Southwest Florida communities most impacted by Ian.”

Travis also announced that he will be recording videos for fans on the web site Cameo, with the proceeds going to feed Floridians affected by the hurricane.

FSU’s administration also is making a gesture for state residents, providing up to four free tickets to Saturday’s Wake Forest game for “Floridians displaced by Hurricane Ian.”

Residents can obtain the tickets by showing their State of Florida identification at the Dick Howser Stadium Ticket Office on Saturday beginning at 11:30 a.m. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
