Florida State announces major coaching changes after Seminoles fall to 1-9
It might not improve the team’s chances for success this season, but it’s a moment frustrated Florida State fans have been waiting on for weeks.
On Sunday afternoon, one day after the Seminoles were blown out by Notre Dame 52-3 and fell to 1-9 on the season, FSU finally announced some coaching changes.
Offensive coordinator Alex Atkins, defensive coordinator Adam Fuller and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans have all been relieved of their duties, according to a release from the university.
Linebackers coach Randy Shannon will take over as interim defensive coordinator for the remainder of the season.
The moves were announced as Florida State moves on to its third bye week of the 2024 season. After being idle this Saturday, the Seminoles will close the year with home games against Charleston Southern and rival Florida.

Florida State has lost its last three games — blowout losses to Notre Dame, North Carolina and Miami — by a combined margin of 123-28.
While nothing else has been announced, these likely are the first of several moves as head coach Mike Norvell looks to get Florida State back on track following a dreadful 2024 season.
The Seminoles went 10-3 in 2022 and 13-1 in 2023 and were picked by many to defend their ACC Championship this fall. Instead, they are on track to have the school’s worst campaign in decades.
