Florida State Baseball will be the No. 8 National seed in the NCAA Tournament, the selection committee announced Monday.

FSU will host No. 2 seed Alabama, No. 3 seed UCF and No. 4 seed Stetson in this week’s Tallahassee Regional. The Seminoles will face off against the Hatters in the opening round, while the Crimson Tide will clash with the Knights.

The winner of the Tallahassee Regional will be paired up with the Oklahoma Regional for the Supers. The three teams battling the Sooners will be Duke, Oral Roberts and UConn.

The other top-eight national seeds are No. 1 Tennessee, No. 2 Kentucky, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 UNC, No. 5 Arkansas, No. 6 Clemson, No. 7 Georgia.

EARLIER REPORT

The news wasn’t all bad for the Florida State baseball team on Sunday.

Even with a 16-4 loss to Duke in the ACC Championship Game, a season-long goal was still very much met for the Seminoles when the NCAA announced they would be one of 16 Regional hosts for the upcoming Division-I postseason tournament.

It’s the first time since 2018 that Florida State will host a regional.

And it comes with good reason. The Seminoles had one of the biggest turnarounds in the history of the ACC in 2024, going from the worst season in school history to a team that could potentially be a Top 8 national seed.

Florida State (42-15 overall) will find out its fate in that department at noon on Monday during the ESPN Selection Show.

The Seminoles are currently No. 8 in the RPI, and the fact they went 3-1 in the conference tournament, with wins over two sure-fire tournament teams in Wake Forest and Virginia and another over a team on the bubble, Georgia Tech, should only enhance their chances of being one of the Top 8 seeds and potentially hosting a Super Regional if they win the Tallahassee Regional this weekend.

The Seminoles will find out who else will be playing Dick Howser Stadium during the aforementioned Selection Show.

The ACC joined the SEC as the only conferences with five host bids. Clemson, N.C. State, North Carolina and Virginia are the others from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
