Florida State Baseball erupts for 20 hits in 19-0 rout of USF

The Florida State baseball team won its fourth game in a row on Tuesday. And this one was a whole lot easier than the previous three.
The Seminoles jumped all over visiting South Florida from the start Tuesday evening, scoring seven runs in the first inning and then pouring it on from there in a 19-0 run-rule win over the Bulls at Dick Howser Stadium.
Florida State, which was coming off a three-game sweep of Virginia Tech over the weekend, is now 29-7 overall.
The Seminoles scored 19 runs on 20 hits, including 16 singles, and turned the lights out on the Bulls before the game had barely started.
Alex Lodise delivered two hits and 3 RBIs in the first inning alone, as FSU sent 12 players to the plate.
After scoring a single run in the second, Florida State added two in the fourth, eight more runs in the fifth and a single run in the sixth.

Meanwhile, the Florida State pitching staff — led by starter Payton Manca — shut out the Bulls on just three hits allowed.
Reliever Ben Barrett then pitched two scoreless innings and struck out six, and Jacob Marlowe pitched a scoreless seventh to finish the victory.
Lodise, Gage Harrelson, Max Williams, Myles Bailey, Cal Fisher and Hunter Carns each had two hits for the Seminoles, and Drew Faurot and Chase Williams both added three.
Fisher also had the game’s lone home run, a two-run shot, and finished the night with 4 RBIs.
Florida State returns to action on Thursday night in the first game of a three-game series with Virginia.
