QB BOMB: Florida State predicted to land 4-star 2025 QB by On3's Steve Wiltfong
Though Florida State’s quarterback commit of almost two years, Tramell Jones, backed off his pledge Thursday morning, the Seminoles appear poised to pivot to another four-star signal caller.
On3’s Steve Wiltfong logged an RPM prediction for FSU to land four-star quarterback Carter Smith, a recent Michigan decommit. Smith broke away from Michigan following the Wolverines making a last-second push for five-star Bryce Underwood.
Wiltfong had reported earlier in the week that the Seminoles were picking up steam with the Fort Meyers native, stating they were eyeing an official visit for the Florida Game on November 30th.
Smith confirmed traction is building with Florida State when he spoke with Warchant earlier this week.
“I think I’m trending that way,” Smith told Warchant. “I still have to make a few more phone calls, but definitely trending towards that weekend for a visit.”

According to On3, Smith is ranked higher than Jones in the 2025 class. Smith is the 196th overall prospect as well as the 15th-ranked quarterback.
Jones has not cracked the On300 and is listed as the 31st ranked QB, according to On3.
