Florida State DE Patrick Payton, other 'Noles announce entering transfer portal
The first handful of transfer portal entries off the 2023 Florida State football team were the typical ones fans might be used to: A quarterback down on the depth chart, an offensive lineman who wasn’t on the two-deep, a tight end who became third string, etc.
But on Tuesday night, the Seminoles got some news that really stings.
Florida State redshirts sophomore defensive end Patrick Payton announced on Twitter that he was entering the transfer portal:

Payton finished the 2013 season with 42 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, 6 sacks and 10 pass breakups, which was the second most on the team behind cornerback Renardo Green. Payton earned Honorable Mention All-ACC honors this season, and he was the 2022 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year as well.
Also announcing plans to enter portal on Tuesday were backup offensive linemen Daughtry Richardson and Qae’Shon Sapp and freshman defensive lineman Ayobami Tifase.

The portal entries started to trickle out for the Seminoles on Monday as quarterback A.J. Duffy, tight ends Markeston Douglas and walk-on Preston Daniel, freshman linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner and walk-on running back CJ Campbell.
So, that’s nine portal entries so far for the Florida State Seminoles, but there are likely to be plenty more between now and the end of the month.
