SYRACUSE — Another week, another road trip, another blowout victory for the No. 23 Florida State Seminoles.

Coming on the heels of last week’s 42-point rout of rival Miami in South Florida, Florida State went on the road again Saturday night and obliterated Syracuse, 38-3

The Seminoles have now won three straight Atlantic Coast Conference games by a combined margin of 124-22.

FSU improves to 7-3 on the season (5-3 in the ACC), while Syracuse falls to 6-4 and 3-3. The Seminoles finished ACC play with a winning record for the first time since 2016.

While the offensive total was impressive, it was the Florida State defense that set the tone on Saturday. Coordinator Adam Fuller’s unit held the Orange to 61 yards in the first half and 160 for the game.

Syracuse had the benefit of seeing the return of injured quarterback Garrett Shrader, but he was ineffective, completing 6 of 17 passes for 65 yards.

Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis, meanwhile, delivered another exceptional and efficient performance. Travis completed 17 of 18 passes in the first half and finished with 155 yards on 21-of-23 passing with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Travis also caught a touchdown pass from tight end Wyatt Rector on a flea-flicker late in the third quarter, and he rushed for a touchdown to give him five scores on the night.

Last week against Miami, Travis also threw just two incompletions. He has now completed 31 of 35 passes over the past two weeks with six touchdowns and one interception.

On Saturday, Florida State took an early 14-0 lead with the short Travis run for a touchdown and a 15-yard scoring pass from Travis to Malik McClain. After a field goal by Syracuse, the Seminoles added a 24-yard touchdown pass to Johnny Wilson and a 45-yard field goal by Ryan Fitzgerald to make it 24-3 at halftime.

The Seminoles pushed their advantage to 31-3 early in the third quarter with a 5-yard TD pass from Travis to Kentron Poitier. Then Rector hit Travis with the flea-flicker throw to push the lead to 35 points.

Florida State returns home next Saturday to host Louisiana before finishing the regular season the following Friday against rival Florida.
