One day after the Florida State football team got great news at the defensive tackle position, the Seminoles apparently said goodbye to another player at that position.

Redshirt freshman Bishop Thomas, who was a three-star recruit in the Seminoles’ 2022 signing class, is no longer on the FSU official roster and is expected to enter the transfer portal, Warchant has confirmed.

Thomas saw limited action in two games this past season and showed promise in practice, earning Defensive Scout Team Player of the Year honors. But at 6-foot-2 and 290 pounds and with little experience, he likely wasn’t going to see the field much in 2023.

Thomas also saw some action at defensive end in practice this spring, but he apparently won’t be a part of Florida State’s future plans.

The New Orleans native’s departure comes one day after a wild few hours that saw redshirt sophomore defensive lineman Joshua Farmer enter the transfer portal and then withdraw it later in the day. Farmer ended up announcing that he will be back in 2023.

With Farmer still in the mix, the Seminoles should have an abundance of depth and talent at the position, with the likes of returning starter Fabien Lovett, high-profile transfers Braden Fiske and Darrell Jackson, veteran Dennis Briggs’ Jr. and others.
