Florida State defensive tackle Joshua Farmer announces he'll enter transfer portal
The deepest position on the Florida State football team is about to get a little thinner.
Redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Joshua Farmer, who was expected to be in the two-deep rotation for Florida State this fall after an impressive spring, announced Tuesday he is entering the transfer portal.
Farmer played extensively last season as a backup and was expected to compete for a starting job this fall.

The Seminoles return multi-year starter Fabien Lovett at the position and brought in high-profile transfers Darrell Jackson and Braden Fiske. They also have several returning reserves, including Dennis Briggs Jr. and Malcolm Ray.
But it was Farmer who made perhaps the biggest impression of any defensive tackles this spring.
Earlier in the month, FSU head coach Mike Norvell said the 6-foot-3, 311-pound Port St. Joe native had been “dominant” during spring practice for the Seminoles.

“And he’s just scratching the surface,” Norvell added.
If he didn’t earn a starting spot in the fall, Farmer was still poised to be a big part of the Seminoles’ defensive-tackle rotation. Instead, he’ll be somewhere else in 2023.
Farmer appeared in all 13 games for FSU in 2022, registering 15 tackles, including six for loss and two quarterback sacks.
FSU earlier this spring lost starting defensive end Derrick McLendon to the transfer portal.
