Florida State DT Antavious Woody announces intention to enter transfer portal
Florida State’s defensive line depth is losing a younger piece to the puzzle. Defensive tackle Antavious Woody tweeted his intentions to enter the transfer portal Tuesday afternoon.
Woody’s post was straightforward in nature as it read, “I will be entering my name into the transfer portal.”
By Tuesday evening, Woody’s name was removed from the Florida State official roster.
Woody is the second Florida State football player in two days to test the portal waters. According to On3’s Matt Zenitz, linebacker Brendan Gant decided to explore his options Monday afternoon.
An industry three-star trench prospect in the 2022 recruiting class, Woody arrived to Florida State as an offensive lineman. But by last November, the Lafayette, Alabama-native was moved to work on the defensive side of the ball.
Listed at 6-foot-3, 312 pounds on Florida State’s 2023 spring roster, Woody has four years of eligibility remaining.
Impact on Florida State in 2023
Woody’s departure, if he follows through and leaves the program, figures to have minimal impact on Florida State’s defensive line this fall. Up front, the defensive interior is led by returning veterans Fabien Lovett and Joshua Farmer as well as transfer defensive linemen Darrell Jackson and Braden Fiske.
Redshirt freshmen Daniel Lyons and Ayobami Tifase have also regularly received praise from head coach Mike Norvell.

Track transfer portal activity
While the NCAA transfer portal database is private, the On3 Network has streamlined the reporting process tracking player movement.
If you find yourself asking, ‘How can I track transfer portal activity?’ our well-established network of reporters and contacts across college athletics keeps you up to speed in several ways, from articles written about players as they enter and exit the transfer portal or find their new destination, to our social media channels, to the On3 Transfer Portal.
The transfer portal wire provides a real-time feed of player activity, including basic player profile information, transfer portal ranking and original On3 Consensus recruiting ranking, as well as NIL valuation (name, image and likeness).
The On3 Transfer Portal Instagram account and senior national college football reporter Matt Zenitz’s Twitter account are excellent resources to stay up to date with the latest moves from other schools.
