CHARLOTTE — The Florida State Seminoles, who are 12-0 and ranked No. 4 in the College Football Playoff rankings, apparently will look to win tonight’s ACC Championship Game against Louisville with a true freshman at quarterback.

A true freshman who has thrown just four passes all season.

Brock Glenn, who has been impressive in practices since arriving at Florida State in January but has appeared in just three games, appears to be set to start in place of the injured Tate Rodemaker. Rodemaker, of course, was only starting because ACC Player of the Year Jordan Travis is sidelined with a season-ending leg injury.

Glenn took all of the reps with the starting offense in pregame warmups. Rodemaker warmed up but did not participate in team drills before the game.

Rodemaker helped lead Florida State to wins against Florida and North Alabama after Travis went down, but then he left the UF game briefly when he was hit in the head on a play that led to a personal foul and ejection for a Gator defender.

FSU head coach Mike Norvell said Rodemaker was cleared to return to that Florida game after he “passed” sideline evaluations. But the junior quarterback then experienced “a few symptoms” on Sunday.

Rodemaker’s father, Alan Rodemaker, confirmed in a radio interview Saturday morning that his son was dealing with a concussion.

That leaves the keys to the Florida State offense to Glenn, who attempted just four passes all season, completing two for 35 yards. He actually was sidelined for several weeks with an injury of his own before returning to the fold in recent weeks.

If Rodemaker is unavailable, the Seminoles’ only scholarship quarterback available behind Glenn will be redshirt freshman A.J. Duffy, who completed just 2 of 7 passes last season and has not attempted a pass in 2023.

With a win tonight, Florida State will be in prime position to earn a spot in the College Football Playoff for the first time since 2014. Louisville is 10-2 in its first season under head coach Jeff Brohm.
