Florida State lands 8 on All-ACC First Team; School-record 25 Seminoles honored

No. 4 Florida State earned a program-record 25 selections on the All-ACC teams released Tuesday, including a conference-best eight on the first team. FSU also had the most players on the second team, with six and the third team, with four. FSU also had seven players recognized as honorable mentions.

The Seminoles’ first-team selections were quarterback Jordan Travis, offensive tackle Darius Washington, offensive guard D’Mitri Emmanuel, defensive end Jared Verse and linebacker Kalen DeLoach. Keon Coleman was the first-team wide receiver, all-purpose player and specialist, highlighting his skills as the league’s top punt returner. Coleman is the first Nole to earn three All-ACC honors in the same season.

Verse was also a first-team defensive end in 2022 and is the Seminoles first two-time first-team All-ACC defensive end since Reinard Wilson in 1995 and 1996. Verse capped his regular season Saturday with 3.0 tackles for loss and a career-high 2.5 sacks in Florida State’s victory at Florida.

FSU’s second-team picks included running back Trey Benson, tight end Jaheim Bell, defensive tackles Braden Fiske and Joshua Farmer, cornerback Renardo Green and punter Alex Mastromanno.

The third-team included wide receiver Johnny Wilson, linebacker Tatum Bethune, safety Shyheim Brown and kicker Ryan Fitzgerald. Honorable mentions were offensive guard Casey Roddick, center Maurice Smith, defensive end Patrick Payton, linebacker DJ Lundy, cornerbacks Jarrian Jones and Fentrell Cypress II and safety Akeem Dent.

Improving on their All-ACC honors from a year ago are Travis (second-team in 2022), Emmanuel (third-team), Green (honorable mention) and Bethune (honorable mention). Benson was the second-team running back as well in 2022, while Smith has been an honorable mention center each of the last two years.

Florida State’s 25 All-ACC selections are a school record and three more than the previous high of 22 in 2022 and 1996. FSU also had 20 or more selections in 2012 (21), 2000 (20) and 1999 (20).

Florida State comprised eight of the 28 first-team selections, five more than the next closest school.

The All-ACC teams were chosen by a voting panel of 51 media members and each of the league’s 14 head coaches for a total of 65 voters. Three points were awarded for each first-team vote, two points for each second-team vote, and one point for each third-team selection.
