Florida State lands elite transfer portal CB Jeremiah Wilson

After a quiet first week or so, the Florida State Seminoles have started making some noise in the post-spring transfer portal.
With defensive back being one of their positions of need, the ‘Noles made it a priority to get highly touted Houston cornerback Jeremiah Wilson on campus this week for an official visit. And Wilson jumped on board with Florida State, announcing Friday that he has committed to head coach Mike Norvell.
This was a very pivotal addition for the Seminoles, who we had heard really wanted to land a proven and experienced playmaker in the secondary. And Wilson appears to fit that mold. He is rated a four-star transfer portal prospect by On3, and he actually is the top available player in the portal.
This past season for the Cougars, Wilson recorded four interceptions and 24 tackles. The 5-foot-11, 181-pounder is originally from central Florida and had a previous relationships with the FSU staff, including defensive coordinator Tony White, who actually recruited him to his first college, Syracuse.
All of that helped move the process along very quickly for Florida State, which was battling Kentucky and several other schools.

With FSU losing both of its starting cornerbacks and its nickel corner after last season, Wilson should fit in well young talents Quindarrrius Jones, Ja’Bril Rawls, Edwin Joseph, Ricky Knight and others.
***What’s next for FSU in the portal***
While this is a very strong pick-up for Florida State, I still expect the Seminoles to look for safety help as well. I’m told there are a few visits close to being finalized, and those visits could happen this weekend or early next week.
I also expect FSU to start hosting targets on the offensive and defensive lines and at wide receiver in the coming days.
